Intellectual Property

Digital Acoustics has developed proprietary core technology through decades of dedicated research and development. This foundation has positioned Digital Acoustics as a leading manufacturer in the IP audio industry, with an integrated platform of hardware, firmware, and software that delivers branded products, easily customized OEM solutions, and unlimited potential for future innovation.

Hardware:

The Interoperable Communications Class (ICC) Digital Communication Engine

The ICC chipset is a 2″x2″ multilayer circuit board featuring ARM/DSP cores, CODECs, HD audio amplifiers, and integrated protocols, all engineered in-house.

While competitors rely on standardized, off-the-shelf commodity VoIP chips, Digital Acoustics developed a superior solution from the ground up. We hold the intellectual property on these developments and are not limited by third-party component specifications.

ICC Peripheral Support

The ICC platform supports extensive peripheral connectivity: Serial Data (RS-232, I2C), USB devices, sensors, relays, switches, and indicators. Software interfaces include Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Noise Reduction, LEC, ALC, FFT, and internal audio line routing matrices.

Real-world deployments require more than voice and music delivery. Common requirements include digital command signals, sensor data collection, and control of external devices such as switches, LEDs, and door strikes. The ICC protocol natively supports all these features: capabilities that SIP alone cannot provide.

Software

TalkMaster FOCUS and Software Development Kits

TalkMaster is a Windows® application written in C++, supporting the ICC protocol, SIP, TCP/IP, and RTP. TalkMaster FOCUS is the fifth generation (5.0) of Digital Acoustics application software. TalkMaster feature includes:

  • Live or pre-recorded paging to dynamic zones.
  • Two-way intercom communication with associated video streaming via IP cameras.
  • Scalability to hundreds of software operators and thousands of hardware endpoints.
  • Automation for building “if this… then that” scenarios.
  • Constant “health monitoring” to ensure system and network connectivity (patented FailForward™).
  • Email alerts for system interruption.
  • Text-to-speech engine supporting RSS/CAP Atom feeds.
  • Door and gate control via on-board relays and sensors.
  • SIP 2.0 gateway allowing software integration with SIP phone servers.
  • Use with InformaCast, IMMIX, or another security or video management system for which we’ve completed an integration (see Integration Page).
  • Use our API/Software Developer Kit to enhance the features of TalkMaster Focus or to create an integration that allows you to control our devices directly from your product/system.

Patents

Digital Acoustics was the first company to invent, develop, and deploy IP intercoms, beginning in 2004. By 2007, our first patent, FailForward™, was granted. Today, we remain the sole owner of this IP intercom redundancy technology, which continues to be unique in the industry.

FailForward™ Technology: Provides system redundancy through a unique network fault management process that automatically redirects endpoints in the event of a command center failure, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

Multipoint Direct Connect (MDP): Enables an unlimited number of interconnected endpoints without requiring a head-end server. This supports ultra-secure, private IP infrastructure deployment and advanced firewall-piercing technology for maximum flexibility.
